So yesterday I tried really hard to write an inspirational post because it was Sunday and I love to do my “God” posts on Sunday. But alas! It just wasn’t happening. Everything I wrote just felt a little bit empty. Why? Because I was exhausted. No writers block or anything, just good old sleep deprived, first time mama kind’a tiredness. So, I decided to just let it go. I was definitely not going to force a life changing revelation.
You know, sometimes it’s ok to just stop and get some rest instead of doing things just because your schedule beckons. Especially matters of the heart. Yeah sure, if it’s something minor like doing dishes, that’s a different story – do them even when you don’t feel like it 😉 I decided to sleep on it and write something (the following day) that has the possibility to change someone’s life even if it’s just in the smallest way, as opposed to just churning out a quick word just to satisfy my unforgiving ‘to-do’ list.
Sometimes life can be a bit like that too. We have so many should do’s and must do’s, that we end up neglecting ourselves in that infamous “productivity chase”. Yes there’ll be times when you REALLY have to get certain things done… but other times you need to just stop and be there for yourself. After all, by taking care of ourselves first, we are better able to take care of others; as well as be in the right frame of mind to pour some strength and courage into others. So go on, and invest in a bit of shut eye…. It IS a God thing 😉
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28
