Top things to do in Marrakech Morocco
First, Happy New Year everyone. We have been taking things a bit slow lately and kind’a easing into 2017. But hey, now that we are here, we thought we might as well share some of our recent adventures to Morocco. Most definitely a beautiful country and very exotic (like most African countries), with explosions of colour everywhere! If you are a lover of intense colour like myself, I’d definitely say one of the top things to do in Marrakech Morocco is to visit the world famous Jardin Marjorelle. Its unapologetic colour scheme just about sums up everything quintessentially Moroccan. This vibrant place, designed by French artist Jacques Majorelle in the 1920s / 30s, has been open to the public since 1947. However, from 1980 onwards, the garden has been owned by Yves Saint-Laurent and Pierre Bergé, and it is the place where Yves Saint Laurent’s ashes were scattered after his passing in 2008 . So yes, a definite must-do for fashion lovers.
We visited in Summer when the Moroccan heat was out in full force, so it was imperative to wear something light and breathable, such as this gorgeous over the shoulder dress from ShopBop.com. Tip – there will be a lot of walking around so wear some comfortable shoes. I wore these riding pants under my dress because it was probably too short (as I was lugging a toddler around, strapped to me in a baby carrier). Anyway, a good pair of sunglasses is always a must and a hat just to amp up your style or perhaps more importantly, to shade your face from the sun.
